To launch ordrumbox left click to the icon "start ordrumbox" then 'properties' then 'shortcut' and in 'target change "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java...\bin\java.exe" to "java.exe"

It's a bug, the buttons (new, del, copy, paste) for the pattern sequencer window are not working. Anyway, this window will be completly redesigned in the next release.
Thanks for the bug report, it's very usefull for us, we have to fix it as soon as possible.
You, and every user, can edit the xml, it's a way to by-pass this problem.

I get this message if I try to save the song using 'Songs | Save' before I initially do a 'Songs|Save as'
If this is not the case, maybe you have an authority issue to the folder you are trying to save to. try saving to a different folder.

I can answer my own question! the XML file can be edited with notepad to remove patterns from the song.
look for
<pattern_dispo
there should be one entry for each patten in the song.
I deleted the whole xml tag, and I can play the song with the correct patterns.
You may not want users to edit the XML directly, if so, just remove this post.
BTW, I also changed my tempo in the XML very quickly.
Good design using the XML format to save the data.

Hello,
I accidentally added a pattern to the song sequence, and want to remove it. When I click on the check mark (next to the number of loops) and click Del at the bottom of the screen, the pattern does not get removed from the song. Is there a trick to removing patterns? If this is not functioning correct, can I edit pattern sequence manually by edtiting the XML file?

I'm a noob, using version 0.9.07. so far so cool.
I am trying to change the tempo, but so far the only way I have figured out is to click the arrows on the left side of the tempo indicator. Each click of change takes about a second to process, so changing tempo from 160 to 100 takes about a minute of clicking. I can click and highlight the tempo value, but I cant seem to change the value with the keyboard.
I read something about clicking and dragging, but no luck.
Any help?

You have to use the "pattern sequencer" menu view/view pattern sequencer, then drag and drop your patterns from left panel to right panel. place your intro pattern in the first position and the other pattern in second position use the spin button (up and down arrow on the left) to set the number of loops for each pattern set the first to 1 and the second to 4, then select the song mode (toggle the song/pattern leds) and press the play button.

As far as we check it, wav export feature works fine in the latest version.. We had used this feature to publish all the demo songs on the web site (with vista and ubuntu). You have to activate song mode before exporting a song unless it's export just a pattern as a wav file.

The best way to install/uninstall ordrumbox is first to properly install java on your computer. Anyway, to unsinstall, you can just drop all the ordrumbox icons into the trashcan. After that you can possibly delete the c:/program/ordrumbox directory if there is such a directory.

I just got the orDrumbox, and I think it's pretty neat! My only present complaint is it doesn't seem there's any kind of keyboard shortcut or easy way to undo and redo your actions. Sure, you can go up to the menu at the top and click "Undo" or "Redo" from there, but that is really quite a pain - it adds a lot of time to the process when you make a lot of mistakes like I do. If you could have Ctrl-Z be Undo and Ctrl-Y be Redo, that would help me out a whole lot!

ordrumbox automaticly assign a sound to a track using the track name and the instrument name (and in some cases, the match is not correct), however,you can force the assignation using the 'autoassign' button in the track control frame, you can switch to 'set instr' to assign the track to the instrument you select in the box just above. The song sould be be saved with this assignation, unfortunately, there is a bug and the save process don't work well for this feature, It will be fixed in the next release.
With the current version, you can restore your lost assignations in your songs, just rename the track swith the same name of the instrument you want to assign.

i have been tinkering with the app for a couple of days and I have created my own drum kit with samples I created from a BOSS DR 880 drum machine. The problem I have is that when I load the saved song, many of the instruments are getting assigned to sound patches that I did not select. Any ideas about this?

This is going to be a deal killer for me. I love the Piano roll option on an instrument. I'm frustrated with Beatcraft, but not being able to trust the song I saved is aggravating. I've lost two songs already.

I suspect the error is something along the lines of "*.*.xml not saved". I ran into this as well and it was when I was trying to save to the default directory of OrDrumbox. When I saved my pattern/song to a different directory, (like desktop or my documents) it saved fine. I suspect it is an app permissions issue since it is trying to save to the C:\program files (x86) directory.

Hey folks, Ordrumbox looks very interesting, but it won't go on my Ubuntu 9.10.
When I try to play, an error comes up that says "No sound available for this session" (both online version and binary).
When I open the 'Sound Config' dialog, it shows "No sound available/ no midi" below the controls.
Any idea what could be wrong?

Hello, I installed your product today, and I can't even get it to work at all. The online demo worked fine.
When downloaded V 9.04I open it, javaw.exe consumes 99% of my CPU. I uninstalled and re-installed once already, no discernable difference in running it.

Any advice on what to try next?

I'm running Java 6 update 24.
On XP Service Pack 3
2.6 GhZ of 3.25 GB RAM

ok, sorry about that, it's a bug in the build.xml file (just a directory path problem), we just added a build-NOECLIPSE.xml to fix this. You will find this file in the sourceforge download space (same directory as ordrumbox-V0.9.03-src.zip)

delete build.xml, rename build-NOECLIPSE.xml as build.xml, then run ant
Hope it will fix your problem

Hello, I use this program for a long time and I can install/uninstall very easily. I can say that it is not a crapware or a spyware at all. Maybe you should clean your computer with "Ccleaner" for example, don't forget to clean the registry. Try this.

I wanted to try your orDrumbox but I have an installation problem.
My O.s. is: OS X 10.4.11
I tried to install orDrumbox V0.9.02 by double clicking but It appears errors window : 'The jar file "ordrumbox-V0.9.02.jar" couldn't be launched. Check the Console for possible error messages'
Afterwords I Tried typing in Terminal :' /Users/roberto/Desktop/java -jar ordrumbox-0.9.02.jar' as read in the instructions but no such files or directory were found. (The jar file is in my desktop and the version is the 0.9.02).
Tried typing as well only: 'java -jar ordrumbox-0.9.02.jar' (unable to access).
I attempted doing the above mentioned after being logged as administrator with no result.
Java is installed (latest version)

Please could you tell me whether am I making mistakes?

For the version ordrumbox v0.8.05, you have to choose menu 'view' item 'view drumkit' then you can click on 'add from zip' or 'add from ordk' to add a complete drumkit. You can also choose 'add from directory' this option will import all wav files in a directory to create a drumkit

I get a series of message boxes saying "not found: no latest drumkit/ no latest song" followed by a blank gui from the actual program. And I checked for the resource files and they're definitely all in the build path.

The applet "SoundGeneratorAppletMain" is an old code

The only way to play a particuar rythm with the OrDrumbox is to use its graphic interface. As far as I know, we don't have any Taiko or wadaiko samples for now in a drum kit, but you can use a sample of yours or a sound approaching taiko (bas drum, low tom).

We just test the 0.8.04 to export demos songs (default and jazz song) on a XP SP3 with JRE 1.6 and it's works fine. A new song build from scratch of more than 2 minutes long was exported too.
- You must stop the playback before exporting the song as wav. So press stop, then export (in next version,this will be fixed)
- The display of the sequencer window is not as user friendly as we want, you have to carefully use and check this display before exporting.
- We have already patched this version a few days after the release to fix a similar bug, may be you got the non patched version, so you can re-download and install the 0.8.4
- You can also try to export the demo songs
Hope it will solve your problem...

Of course you can downgrade but with some versions, there is no backward compatibility for the songs

Ok. I'm playing on song mode, and i'm exporting doing the Export Song as Wav menu, also have a song formed with the sequencer (I'm doing a test with 6 sequences using 3 patterns, no Fantomfill nor scales defined). I'm using ver. 0.8.04 with Java 6 update 13 (which I just had to install on this machine). I'm also using Win2k SP4 with RU1.

BTW: I tried exporting patterns alone to wav and those seem to work fine so far. The problem is exporting songs to wav.

We never experienced this problem in the latest version (0.8.4), we have to check this.
Be sure you export the song and not the pattern, maybe the 15 seconds export was just the first pattern.
Be sure your song is well formed and you are in 'song mode' and not 'pattern mode' for playing

I work on the OrDB as sound designer.
Actually the ordb do not import/export midi. Not yet, but soon! Currently the ordb is able to play a few midi sounds like BD, AC, CC, CH, bass (as far as I know). Then ordb create wave files that you can export and use with any DAW like Protools. Here you can assign sounds as you like, there is no "pre-assignation".
We are working on a better midi implementation according to the General Midi standard. So channel 10 will be dedicated to drums, AO (33) will be a BD, Bbo (34)will be a snare+rimshot and so on...
I hope my answer will help, feel free to ask, comment, suggest!

Yes, song and drumkits are not saved in the same file. If you try the "autoassign" item, the instruments are mapped to the current drumkit whith the nearest instrument name. The "test" label is a bug ! Pressing the stop button should not gives a long wait (!!!) We have to work on it for the next release

1 song comes up in pattern editor 'salsa2'
2 transport bar still on the 'test' song
3 pressing play gives me a red bar going across the 'salsa2' pattern editor as it plays the 'test' song??
4 pressing STOP gives me a long buggy wait.......
5 double click 'salsa2' on PATTERN LIST. Transport bar now says 'salsa2'
6 PLAY gives me what may be 'salsa2' but the instruments are wrong.

oh, now i get it - i need to save the -drumkit- separately.
